Because Sound Devotion Competition celebrates the fifth year of operations this month, organic_io contacted me with plans to create a mix for the occasion. I offered him to do a show with me instead where we play those tracks.

In the end we decided to do both.  And the show we did can be heard in here! The selection of tracks is done entirely by organic_io, great thanks to him!

If you want to enjoy the smooth DJ mix of 38 minutes of SDC goodness, then click on the album cover, which will take you to SDC bandcamp, which has been specially created for this occasion.

If you would prefer to listen to us chatting about the nature of the tracks played, history of SDC in a familiar  Remixta podcast format, then feel free to listen to this podcast.

If you feel like checking out how all those amazing tracks have been made, then click on the track name in the track listing. This will take you to the SDC page where you can download the original XRNS file.

This time we have collected lots of great and high quality music. The episode seems to slant towards more atmospheric, and even a bit to darker atmospheres, but we also have some happier stuff that makes you want to dance around the room (or at least nudge your head a little bit).

For showcasing, we got our hands on the brand new album by Saine, I couldn’t wait to play it, truly amazing stuff. This is the album of the month (and also album of the year in my opinion). Also, we have exclusive track from Beatslaughter’s upcoming album. This time into IDM genre, but ofcourse with the touch of his other styles, making it one of the most interesting IDM releases I have ever heard.

Enjoy the music, and see you again next year. :)

(Scroll down to listen)

Album Showcase: Saine – Break A Pattern

The best album of this year came late enough to blast everyone else away and probably to pick some berries in the next year as well. Truly amazing chillout/electronica/dubstep, taking the listener on a trip that they will never forget. This album has more warmth and more air than any analogue recordings I have ever heard. This is really pleasurable listen.

Right now you can buy the album from iTunes or Digital Tunes netstores. But according to Saine, it will also become available as a double vinyl in few months.

I have listened to this album obviously more times than it’s healthy and I still can’t get enough of those ambient grooves. Check out the samples in digital-tunes.net, and buy that album! I mean it… Buy it now! NOW! Click click click! :)

On popular demand we are doing Ambient / Chillout podcast, so expect lot slower tempos and lot more of chillness. Most tracks are released in the past month, but not all of them. Specially surprising stuff is by Xerxes who is in the show with two remixes.

Don’t listen to this stuff when riding in a bus, you may fall a sleep and miss your stop! To avoid getting into looprides with a bus, I ended this show with something bit faster. A remix of hit track from last time.

As I had many other tracks I wanted to play, but had already exceeded the time limits, I may release second podcast this month, with more dance oriented stuff aswell.

Track list

  1. Mick Rippon – Legend of Woo (Xerxes Remix)
  2. Oleksus – Дзвін (Ringing)
  3. Void Pointer – Mushroom Fever
  4. mr mark dollin – Long (From album 3 Smargaid Maerd)
  5. Nine Inch Nails – Ghosts 32 (Xerxes Remix)
  6. Knetter – Sketches of Mind (SDC 32. winner)
  7. Void Pointer Feat. Jaede – Stuffed Animals (Haga & Plen’s Schizophrenic ’99 mix)

3 Smargaid Maerd

Todays episode of Remixta includes a track by mr. mark dollin from his latest album 3 Smargaid Maerd. One of the greatest electronica releases in this year.

I picked the track “Long” because this is my favourite track from the new album, it reminds me a bit more of the previous work from 2 Smargaid Maerd. Cold and dark, yet warm sounding and highly technical ambient soundscapes. His music is really original to him, and his distinct sound is something that really sticks with you.

This album, according to his own words, like previous albums in the series, deals with the meeting place of organic melody and quirky electronica: thematically dealing the unknown realms of delicate emotion and lucid dreaming. There is a general progression from loose improvisations to structured dramas.

You can fetch this album together with full digital artwork and his previous works from from his homepage.
